Slotted Box

Child under 3 inserting a coin into slotted box

The children work on refinement of movement activities year round. The materials help the children to refine small movements of the hand, to exercise and develop hand-eye coordination, and to coordinate both hands working together.  Refinement of movement activities also aid the children in concentration, growth and independence.  Working on inserting coins or washers into a slotted box enhances the pincer grasp and hand-eye coordination, while opening and closing the box with a sliding lid encourages both hands working together.
