In a Montessori Casa classroom, there are various materials that can be used for multiplying, one of which is the coloured bead material. Similar to the short bead stair, each number is represented by a distinct colour such that one is always red, two is green and so on. By combining beads of the same colour, the child can perform the mathematical operation of multiplication. Equation cards are available or the child can come up with their own.
