Exploring through the Sense of Touch

Child scooping pasta

Sensory is a major part of our Under 2 classroom curriculum.  Early childhood learning is fostered and stimulated by exploring through touch.  In this image, the child is seen exploring a pasta activity where the child is scooping with a variety of tools such as a Chinese soup spoon, sushi plate and utensils from different cultures. Children are encouraged to grasp, pour and transfer.  These activities aid in the children’s development of overall fine motor and self-help skills.
