Our country celebrated a very special milestone this year! Casa commemorated Canada’s 150th birthday through a month of Canadian themed circle times, lessons and artwork. We read about the provinces and territories that make up our vast country. We also learned about Canadian innovations and achievements including the development of the blue recycling bin, the invention of basketball, and the origin of the life vest.
In Casa East we worked together to replicate a painting by the Group of Seven titled White Pine. The children’s artwork was put up for auction with proceeds donated to a local charity, Native Child and Family Services of Toronto.
Here is a rendition of Casa East singing O Canada in English and French.
