The children participate in half-an-hour of music class weekly at Downtown Montessori. Their teacher, Adriana, helps them learn simple songs and how to keep a beat using drums, shakers, etc. During music class, the children get to connect with their musical self. They begin to develop basic musicality such as identifying the sound of a low note versus a high note or recognizing the sounds and learning the names of different instruments.
As the children mature, they will be working more with the Montessori bells. They will also play a tune on the bells for their friends to sing along to while taking turns being one of Adriana’s helpers.
