Once a week, the Casa children participate in French class with our French teacher, Cheeba. With the aid of a variety of songs, poems, flash cards and power point presentations, the children interactively learn how to count, recognize and name shapes, colours, animals, types of foods, and parts of the face. The children also learn basic French phrases such as “Je m’appelle” and “Comment allez-vous?” Some of the children’s favourite French songs include “Cinq Petits Canards”, “Ma Petite Maman Cherie”, and “Frere Jacques”. The children can be heard singing these songs throughout the day as they complete other activities. It is nice to hear how much the children have retained from these weekly French classes!
