Refinement of Movement

Placing cubes on a vertical dowel aids a child’s growing ability to use the small muscles of their hands in a coordinated way. This material consists of three large wooden cubes and a base with a vertical wooden dowel. It helps to sharpen hand-eye coordination and explore different finger grasps. In order to complete this task, the child’s hands need to grasp and release the beads at the appropriate time and get the angle just right to make the cube slide onto the dowel.
