Colour Box 3 contains nine sets of seven tablets in different compartments, and each set shows seven different intensities of one hue. Through this activity, the child can develop their perception of colours. It indirectly prepares the child for work in the visual arts and refines their visual sense. When forming the star pattern, the hues are graded in rows decreasing in intensity from the centre outward. Another pattern they can create is the rainbow snake, where they start with the darkest to the lightest of one hue, followed by the lightest to darkest of another hue, until complete. By following a pattern, the child gains a sense of order which they will be able to carry with them as they move on to more complicated activities.
