The staff at Downtown Montessori believe in the importance of contributing to the community, raising awareness of those in need, and teaching global citizenship. This year, the children worked on a variety of Indigenous arts and crafts in order to raise funds to help Indigenous women and children in Toronto.
The children in the Under 2 community created sun catchers by using their pincer grasp to place pressed flowers on a piece of acrylic glass. The artwork was then auctioned off at the fundraiser.
We also introduced the children to animal spirits through various art projects.
