With the arrival of Spring, the children in the Under 2 classroom welcomed the new season by celebrating Nowruz – the Persian New Year. First, the children decorated eggs by scribbling on the shell with a white crayon. Then they dyed the eggs by pouring the food colouring mixture on the egg. Afterwards, the children took turns gathering at the Haft-Sin table which consisted of items that symbolize Spring and renewal. The items that the children explored were: a candle, a mirror, a fish, an apple, dried fruit, vinegar, Hyacinth flowers, garlic, decorated eggs and coins. Here are some pictures of the children’s experience.
Happy Nowruz!
