In this activity, the child places one of the chains from the bead cabinet, its corresponding tickets, squares, cube, and counter on their math tray. Working on the table or a mat, the child lays out their chain and uses their counter to count along each bead. The child placing the numbered tickets below its corresponding bead, makes sure to place each square above the chain when appropriate. For example, when working with the five chain, the child will lay out the tickets 1 through 5 and then there will only be 4 tickets left (10, 15, 20, 25). The child will continue counting and place the rest of the tickets when they count that number. This activity allows the child to visually see what it looks like when skip counting. Indirectly, the activity prepares the mind for multiplication, squaring, and cubing.
