Food Banks are in need of our help, many food banks are running low on their inventory as many of our neighbours are facing much uncertainty. Susanna, from our Under 2 community, had an idea that she wanted to share on how families may be able to help.
Let this be a teachable moment for your child(ren) as we can foster empathy, belonging, and well being in children for our city community. Have your child(ren) go to your pantry or food cupboards and pick out a couple of non-perishable food items. Have a conversation about: what we are doing to help others in our community, why we are helping them, etc. Let the children know that the next time mom or dad goes grocery shopping, they are going to donate the food to the food bank to help other families have groceries. Most grocery stores have a food bank donation bin by the entry of the grocery store or by the cashier check out area- exit area. Donations may also be made at https://www.dailybread.ca/
