In the Under Two Community we place an emphasis on sensory exploration since we know that children learn about their surroundings through their senses. Within our weekly curriculum planning the children have various exposure to different sensorial experiences…this is always one of the favourites!

Is it a solid or a liquid?
To create this satisfying substance mix 1/2 cup of cornstarch with 1/4 cup of water on a plate or in a bowl. Mix until smooth. Touch it, pat it, mix it, pick it up in your hands like a solid but watch it slip out of your hands like a liquid.

You could also turn this into a fun colour mixing activity by making three small batches and adding a different colour to each.
