After extensive work in the Language area, the children move on to journal writing.
In Casa, green words contain one phonogram. A phonogram is a special combination of two or more letters which produces a single sound different from the regular sequence of sounds of these letters. Examples of phonograms are sh as in shell and i-e as in vine. Misha is working through learning the different phonograms- building and reading. As she continues to expand and commit to memory the irregularities of the English language, she uses her knowledge of phonetic and non-phonetic words in journal writing.
She uses letters to build her own journal entry onto a mat. Children are encouraged to write about experiences they have had or anything else that inspires them to write and create! After building the sentences, the child prints them in their Journal Book and draws an accompanying picture.
