Flower Arranging

Child under 3 arranging flowers

The flower arranging activity is part of the Practical Life area of the Montessori classroom. It focuses on the care and enhancement of the Under Three environment. This activity encourages cognitive development through sequencing of steps. There are many steps involved and each one builds upon the other. First, the child must choose a coaster, vase, and a bouquet of flowers. Next, they place a funnel inside the vase and pour water through it. They, then, place the bouquet inside the vase and walk around the room to find an appropriate place to display their work. Furthermore, this activity assists in the development of independence, self-expression, and positive self-esteem.
