Mopping – Practical Life

A child mopping a floor

Practical Life activities, such as mopping, are prominent features of the Toddler Montessori curriculum. Upon completing a water activity, a child notices that some water spilled on the floor. Using problem solving skills, the child retrieves the mop in order to clean up the puddle of water on the floor. Caring for the environment demonstrates an understanding of responsibility and safety in the classroom for oneself and their classmates.
