Ramadan

A collage of children wearing headwear, as well as watching the application of a henna tattoo during group time

This month, the children are learning about Ramadan which is a sacred time that is observed by Muslims around the world. Ramadan takes place for a month and it is a time for fasting, worship, charity, communal gathering, and spiritual development. This year, Ramadan started on March 10, 2024 and will end on April 9, 2024. In our classroom, the children explored headwear like a kufi and hijab. The children also participated in Ramadan crafts such as decorating lanterns, printmaking with star and moon shapes and sticking colourful tissue paper onto mac-tac. During circle time, the teachers read stories about Ramadan and the children observed the application of a henna tattoo that can be worn during Eid, which marks the end of Ramadan.
