There are many activities in the Montessori classroom that teach the children about different life cycles such as that of animals, plants, and humans.  These activities are designed to train the child’s faculties of observation, patience, and admiration.  They also include a frieze, a large card or book of images used as a control of error. In this activity, the picture cards or objects are matched to the pictures in the frieze. Once the pictures have been paired up, the teacher sits with the child and conversation is promoted of that particular life cycle. We also have layered life cycle puzzles that depict different life cycles. The children always show keen interest in these activities as they help the child to gain vocabulary and knowledge about metamorphosis.
