The children of West Casa enjoy music class with Adriana weekly. In addition to the Montessori bells, Adriana incorporates various percussion instruments into the class such as tambourines, hand drums, and shakers. This week we had a chance to use hand drums to explore different rhythms and volumes. We could play the drums quickly and slowly or loudly and quietly. We also had a chance to walk the line and incorporate movement into our drum playing, taking a step with each beat we played to the music.
It’s a wonderful experience to move our bodies to music and create different sounds with percussion instruments.
