A fun craft to do at home that also helps teach our children how we can help our planet earth is using recycled items as art materials.
In our classrooms, we always have recycled art materials such as paper towel rolls, boxes, etc that your children can use to create anything with their creative imaginations.
With limited supplies at home or if you don’t want to go to a store at this moment, look around your home for things to use. Here’s a fun idea! Take newspaper flyers and cut out appropriate pictures such as from grocery store flyers, and have your children glue them onto paper.
A step further for fine motor skill practice would be for your child to use scissors and cut out the items they would like to use on their own.
Play a game with this craft as well. For example, you can ask your child ”if we were having a picnic, what would you like to bring? Can you make your own grocery list by looking for food pictures in these flyers and glue them onto this paper?
Also, enjoy this time with your child and participate if you can with them because art activities like this encourage self expression and strengthen your bond as you explore together. Enjoy!
