Nature and Health With Sonia!

Let’s go on a nature hike with Sonia and see what we find. She enjoys being in nature and makes a point of experiencing outdoor activities each day. Below, you will find a message from Sonia about the health benefits of being in nature.

Sonia’s message to all of our families:

Hope you are all doing well and are in good health! Today, I wanted to share with you a video I created with pictures and clips of nature. experienced some during the quarantine, and some over the past year.

I would like to take this time to talk about the health benefits of being in nature. There have been studies that show that being in nature or viewing scenes of nature reduces anger, anxiety, and stress. Spending time in nature reduces blood pressure, heart rate, muscle tension, and the production of stress hormones. Nature has a calming effect on our brains, even if it means going outside for just five minutes each day. As an added bonus, outdoor exercise, like going for a walk, hiking, and so forth, gets the blood flowing and heart pumping, which is another way to lower stress levels. It is important for us to value nature because our forests, rivers, oceans and soil provide us with the food we eat, the air we breathe, and the water our crops are irrigated with. We also rely on them for numerous other goods and services we depend on for our health, happiness, and prosperity. Hope you all have a wonderful day and enjoy the video!
