In the Under 2 program, the children enjoy dramatic play within the classroom using various props. Dramatic play encourages a child’s imagination to flourish and re-enact experiences that they have seen in their day-to-day environment. Moreover, dramatic play promotes a child’s social-emotional skills through turn taking, sharing, and having empathy. It also develops their language skills through learning vocabulary and engaging in conversations with their peers and adults. Other examples of skills that can also develop during dramatic play are problem solving, fine motor, gross motor, thinking, and creativity. Here are some pictures of the children engaging in dramatic play in the classroom.
