One of the ways we introduce, integrate, and celebrate events in our Casa community is through our Practical Life activities. Materials for activities such as transferring, lacing, gluing, and sifting are changed regularly to reflect the new season or upcoming celebrations. The photo above shows some examples of these for Autumn and Halloween. This preparation of our environment encourages the children to further develop important skills such as eye-hand coordination, fine motor control, and concentration as the updated activities capture the children’s interests!
“A child who has become master of his (or her) acts through long and repeated exercises, and who has been encouraged by the pleasant and interesting activities in which he (or she) has been engaged, is a child filled with health and joy and remarkable for his (or her) calmness and discipline.” -Maria Montessori (The Discovery of the Child)
