Science appeals to young children’s inquisitive minds as they try to make sense of the world and how things work. At Downtown Montessori, we use science activities in these early years to tap into their curiosity and develop the desire to explore and experiment. This helps children strengthen their problem-solving and analytical skills.
One of the experiments performed in South Casa was making a classroom-created Volcano erupt. The children enjoyed creating a volcano using modelling clay, painting it and then predicting what would happen, before spooning baking soda and pouring vinegar inside the volcano. This experiment and others help children see what they have learned in action and help them to develop a deeper understanding of focused topics.
