ViewEmpathy, emotion management and social problem solving contribute to success in school and throughout life. We use the Second Step program through photo-lesson cards, posters, puppets, a be-calm bunny, hearts, and songs to help children gain confidence, achieve positive goals, collaborate well, and navigate the world more effectively. Please click “view” for more details.
ViewThe kitchen is the heart of any of our schools. The children love Simone’s breaded fish and it’s so easy to make. Please click on “view” to see the recipe and more photos.
ViewLearning to self-regulate is a large part of life in the Under Three Montessori classroom. One way we help children to self-regulate is by providing activities and micro-environments within our classroom that help them to up-regulate (when they need to be energized) and down-regulate (when they need to be relaxed).
ViewWe have been enjoying the beautiful autumn (l’ automne) weather and everything fall has to offer, along with the beautiful colours, textures, smells and the yummy food. We have incorporated Fall in various ways in our role playing, sensory and culture activities. In each French lesson, we translated the English words to French words.
Please click “Autumn in French” for more photos and information.
ViewThe children have been travelling to galaxies far, far away by reading books, colouring fact sheets, cutting on a line to space objects, singing songs, exploring sensory materials, and role playing being astronauts. What an “out of this world” learning experience!
Please click “Out of This World!” for more info and photos.
ViewA child in our classroom told a story about going on a picnic with his family. This piqued the interest of the other children in the classroom who listened to the story, asked questions, and told their own stories of picnics and eating with their families. Another child asked if we could have a picnic on our playground at school, which other children echoed.
Please click “Picnic!” for more info and pics about our picnic!
ViewThe children helped to make fruit popsicles by taking turns scooping the ingredients into a jug. Then they scooped the blended mixture, poured it into the moulds, and placed popsicle sticks inside. What a healthy, refreshing summer treat!
