Beluga whales

Baby Beluga
by Raffi

Chorus:
Baby Beluga in the deep blue sea
Swim so wild and you swim so free
Heaven above and the sea below
And a little white whale on the go

Baby beluga, Baby beluga
Is the water warm? Is your Mama home
With you so happy

Chorus

Baby beluga, Baby beluga
Sing your little song, Sing for all your friends
We like to hear you

Chorus

When it’s dark, you’re home and fed
Curl up snug in your water bed
Moon is shining, And the stars are bright
Good night little whale, Good night

Chorus

Baby beluga, Baby beluga
With tomorrow’s sun, Another day’s begun
And you’ll soon be waking

Baby beluga in the deep blue sea
Swim so wild and you swim so free
Heaven above and the sea below
And a little white whale on the go
You’re just a little white whale on the go….

Baby bumblebee

Baby Bumblebee

Won’t my mommy be surprised at me,
(Cup hands together as if holding bee)

I’m bringing home a baby bumblebee,
Ouch! It stung me!
(Shake hands as if just stung)

I’m squishing up the baby bumblebee,
Won’t my mommy be surprised at me,
(‘Squish’ bee between palms of hands)

I’m squishing up a baby bumblebee,
Ooh! It’s yucky!
(Open up hands to look at ‘mess’)

I’m wiping off the baby bumblebee,
Won’t my mommy be surprised at me
(Wipe hands off on clothes)
Ooh, it’s all over me!

I’m washing off the baby bumblebee,
Won’t my mommy be surprised at me!
(Rub hands together)

I’m drying off the baby bumblebee,
Won’t my mommy be surprised at me!
(Make a drying motion as if using a towel)

All gone…
(Hold hands up to show they are clean)

Balls

Bouncing Ball
Anonymous

Here are the words to one of our favourite songs, “Bouncing Ball”:

“_____ (child’s name) is a _____(colour: ex. “red”) bouncing ball
Up in the air and down s/he goes
Round and round in circles and you can’t catch me
Twisting and turning
One two three!”

This is a great way to learn colours. Point at the child’s clothing, ask the child to point to the colour they would like to be, or ask the child to name a colour. We can solidify primary and secondary colours, as well as expand our knowledge of tertiary colours. Children begin to notice colours and observe other nuances in their environment as they search around them. We learn sharing and turn-taking as well while we wait for our special turn while supporting our friends. What a fun way to observe and learn about the world around us!

Butterfly, Butterfly

(to the tune of “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star)

Butterfly, Butterfly,
Fly Away,
You were a caterpillar yesterday
Butterfly, Butterfly
You never stay,
Always flying to a new day.

Butterfly Cycle
(to the tune of “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”)
Hatch, hatch little egg,
I’m so very small.
Teeny tiny caterpillar,
You can’t see me at all.

Crawl, caterpillar, crawl,
Munching on a leaf.
Crawling, munching, crawling, munching,
Eat and eat and eat.

Form, form chrysalis,
I’m a different shape;
Hanging by a silken thread
Until I can escape.

Rest, rest, chrysalis
While I change inside;
Now at last my time has come
To be a butterfly.

Stretch, stretch, pretty wings,
It’s a special day;
Soon they will be strong enough
For me to fly away.

Fly, fly, butterfly,
Fly from flower to tree;
Find a place to lay my eggs
So they can grow like me.
