Celebrating Diwali

Cultural diversity is embraced in the Montessori environment by the acknowledgment of various cultural celebrations. For Diwali, the children enjoyed making a fireworks mural with various kinds of coloured paints. They also made individual firework art using patterned cupcake liners on black construction paper. We read about Diwali customs and string lights. We also lit diyas in the classroom to truly usher in this day!

Cutting and Gluing Letters with Kriszanda!

In our situation where we have limited supplies at home, it is hard to go to the store to buy some supplies. By using old magazines, we can make some fun and creative crafts. One activity that the children will enjoy is cutting and gluing their names using the letters from magazines. This activity works on letter recognition and also developing the children’s fine motor skills by using a pair of scissors to cut the letters. Enjoy!
