The Eleventh Hour Mystery!

Horace the Elephant holds a party in the ‘Eleventh Hour’ story for his eleventh birthday, to which he invites his ten best friends to play eleven games and share in a feast that he has prepared. Unfortunately for Horace, someone has eaten the feast before the guests can enjoy the delicious food! It was up to our group of Casa children to decipher the clues and eliminate the suspects!

Sign Language

Sign language has always been an integral part of Montessori philosophy/education. Sign language allows for greater communication, deaf culture awareness and creates strong neurological pathways in the brain (memory, literacy and problem solving).

Walking Water Experiment!

The North Casa children filled two glasses with water and food colouring. They dipped one side of a paper towel into the colourful water and folded the rest of the paper towel over into an empty glass between the other 2 glasses. As an added element, the red water and the blue water combined in the middle glass to make purple water. It was such a sight to see!

Journal Writing

After extensive work in the Language area, the children move on to journal writing. Children are encouraged to write about experiences they have had or anything else that inspires them to write and create!  After building the sentences, the child prints them in their Journal Book and draws an accompanying picture.

Our Giving Tree

This holiday season, we asked the families to help those in need with a donation of hats, mittens, gloves and scarves, which were donated to a local charity. This gave teachers an opportunity to demonstrate selfless acts, the power of giving, and how fortunate we are.

Winter Accessories for The Red Door Family Shelter

This winter we collected new winter accessories for all ages, sizes, and gender. These accessories included hats, gloves, mittens, scarves, neck warmers, and socks. The children helped to place these items on our Christmas Tree that was displayed in our front lobby area. Celebrating Diwali

Cultural diversity is embraced in the Montessori environment by the acknowledgment of various cultural celebrations. For Diwali, the children enjoyed making a fireworks mural with various kinds of coloured paints. They also made individual firework art using patterned cupcake liners on black construction paper. We read about Diwali customs and string lights. We also lit diyas in the classroom to truly usher in this day!
