Children are sensory learners. The sensory bin is an activity in which children can explore their sense of touch, scent, sound and sight. The children are molding and shaping cornstarch mixed with some oil which helps it hold its shape. Sensory play enhances the senses, strengthens fine motor skills, builds eye-hand coordination, and further stimulates intellectual development and curiosity. It’s also a fun activity to role play, encouraging language and social skills.
