Playing the Xylophone While Singing

While we wait for Adriana to come to our Under 3 classroom for Music class, we sing “Adriana, Adriana, where are you?” If she catches us at just the right moment, she sings her reply, “Here I am, Here I am, how do you do?” One of our friends decided to play and sing while excitedly waiting for Adriana. Books and Language

A variety of books are available for the Under 2 children to explore, including nursery rhymes, songs, repetitive patterns, colours, shapes, numbers, and textures. We are beginning to explore books about the changing season, upcoming holidays, celebrations, and special days in our community. Books open a window into new experiences and encourage language development and extend concentration. (Click for more information and full photos.)

Planting Sweet Corn

The children help to turn the soil, sprinkle seeds, and water the soil to help the seeds germinate. Each day the children are excited to revisit the planters to observe the sprouts that have started to appear. This activity fosters a love for nature and allows them to explore cause and effect. Birds Eye View

After being introduced to the decimal system via the golden bead materials and number cards, the child combines the two: symbols and quantities. The child will display all the units and the corresponding cards followed by tens, hundreds, and thousands, displaying the hierarchy of the decimal system. The child has an overview or a bird’s eye view of the golden beads and numeral cards together. (Please click for more information.)

Snake Game: Level 2

The second, third and fourth levels of the snake Game have a child converting a coloured bead bar snake into a golden 10 bar snake. In the second level, the snake is evenly divisible by ten and the child counts the beads and makes a golden snake equaling the number of coloured beads in the coloured Snake.
