Casa
Casa Observation Week
The prepared Montessori environment is a sight to behold. In an authentic Montessori school, a Casa classroom is the stage on which boys and girls develop a sense of responsibility, cooperation and independence. The people on this stage however are not actors, they are children who are developing a legitimate love of learning. At scheduled times twice a year, parent-teacher conferences are held to discuss the children’s progress. A week prior to these conferences, parents are invited to sign up for Observation Week. At this time, parents are able to observe the classroom during the work cycle.

Music with Adriana
The children of West Casa enjoy music class with Adriana weekly. Adriana incorporates Montessori bells as well as various percussion instruments into the class such as tambourines, hand drums, and shakers. We also walk the line and take a step with each beat we play to the music.

Chicken Wraps for Lunch!
One of the children’s favourite lunch is the Chicken and Bean Whole Wheat Wrap. The children enjoy making their own wraps with cheese and salsa!

Five Little Pumpkins Inspiration
The children of North Casa have enjoyed learning a variety of songs during the fall season. The song “Five Little Pumpkins” inspired the children to create a craft by using popsicle sticks, shapes, and markers to bring the song to life.

Indigenous Inspired Drumming Circle
The children participated in an Indigenous inspired drumming circle. Michael Anderson of Monkey Business Creative Services led this special circle.

French Class
During a weekly French class, we reinforce Montessori principles with vocabulary by introducing concrete items such as stories, rhymes, games, songs, and other physical and visual aids.

Colour Box #3
While using Colour Box #3, children can develop their perception of colours and visual acuity. By following a pattern, such as a star or rainbow snake, the child gains a sense of order which they will be able to carry with them as they move on to more complicated activities.

Summer Fun
Our Summer program includes various theme days that provide the children with an opportunity to experience something different and FUN! They may be asked to bring in an item from home, a silly hat, favourite stuffed toy or book. The day may also focus on a craft or on special events taking place around our city.

Summer Fun!
This summer has been a delight for those who enjoy the heat! We have had fun staying cool while running through the sprinkler, going down our ‘water slide’ and playing at the water table. The children have also enjoyed basking in the sun to dry off and having a little rest before running back to the sprinkler to cool down again. Let’s keep hydrated!
