Washing Dishes!

Dishwashing is a multi-step activity that aids a child not only to learn how to wash dishes, but also develop concentration, hand-eye coordination, and independence. It also helps children to contribute to and care for their classroom environment.

The First Snowfall!

The children in the Under 3 Community were thrilled to play with Snow!!! The first snowfall was an exciting experience for the children as they used their gross and fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and senses to shovel, scoop, mold, and go sledding!

Refinement Of Movement Materials

We offer a variety of materials that the children enjoy working with that encourage the development and coordination of hand movements. These activities help to foster small movements of the hands, offer a number of variations for grasping, eye/hand co-ordination, and  encourage the use of two hands working together as well as separately.

Autumn Exploration

The children have noticed, explored, and collected the leaves and flowers in our playground and created artwork for our windows, so that we can see and appreciate the nature that we have been encountering in the Autumn.

Plus-Plus Blocks

Plus-Plus blocks offer a new play challenge for the children with endless possibilities from colour recognition, pattern recognition, counting and sorting, to creating a two-dimensional structure.

Transferring With Tongs

Here is a child in the Under 3 classroom using the transferring with tongs activity. This is one of many activities within the classroom that help to refine small movements of the hand; to exercise and develop hand eye-coordination; and to coordinate two hands working together.

Every Child Matters

To acknowledge Indigenous Peoples, the children in our Under 3 community have been working on several art projects: a medicine wheel and orange tissue paper art.

Yoga and Movement Exercises

Movement exercises such as Yoga can help children feel comfortable in their bodies and competent in their movements. Yoga helps children develop spatial awareness, conceptions of position and speed, strength, flexibility, relaxation, self-calming, and a positive self-image.
